Hi, my name is Tijana Huysamen. I am from Cape Town, South Africa, have been traveling for 6 years, 4 of which was spent teaching in Korea, and have been to 42 different countries.
I am currently a Team Manager at Chungdahm Learning in Seoul where I work at the Songpa Branch and have been an employee of the company for 3 years now. I absolutely love working at CDL, as the hours and the pay are the best in Korea! The amount of opportunities and growth you will experience at the company, will allow you to feel like your time abroad is well spent.
Chungdahm Learning has an impressive syllabus and is one of the first smart learning classrooms in the world. The company is going global (currently in Vietnam) and there are endless opportunities to learn new skills and enhance your resume.
Another favorite part of my day, is seeing my kids. Korean kids are cute and the most respectful kids you will ever come across. Being a teacher is such a rewarding job and it is one of the reasons why I love helping my students everyday and seeing them succeed.
Korea is also a great place to save money. The cost of living is low which allows you to pay off student debt, all while being able to travel the world, live comfortably and eat like a king.
Having now lived in Korea and taught for ChungDahm for 3 years I can honestly say it’s been one of the best decisions of my life. What’s there not to love? Delicious food, amazing shopping, cheap transportation, no tipping, low taxes, being able to save money, plenty of partying, and an opportunity to make friends from all over the world that will last a lifetime!

It is no surprise that Tijana Huysamen, a South African born Capetownian, avid traveler and travel journalist, fell in love with South Korea and its people. After Tijana arrived in South Korea in 2010, she had the opportunity to live in the heart of the Korean countryside. During her time spent in Chungnam province she learned to speak Korean, prepare Korean food and experience the humble nature of the countryside people. After a year break in New York, Tijana jumped at the opportunity to return to Korea again, and is currently working at the CDI Jamsil Branch, in Jamsil, Seoul. Read Tijana’s Aclipse blog to gain a unique perspective on Korea and her shared experiences and adventures both in a major city and in the countryside.
