When I was getting ready to come to teach English in Korea, I remember being super busy. I had to say goodbye to so many people, go shopping for what I would need in Korea, and plan all the other details that arise from being gone for over a year. I wanted to set aside some time to learn about the Korean culture and language, but I was so busy rushing around that I couldn't sit around and read a book. If only I could have listened to something that would have taught me about Korea when I was busy completing errands.
I discovered later after I arrived in Korea that there was something to listen to: podcasts! I love listening to podcasts now whenever I am doing my shopping or at the gym. Also, not having a car in Korea, I found myself walking or taking public transportation everywhere I went. Listening to podcasts makes the trip go by faster and much more enjoyable. I highly recommend listening to them. The following is a list of my favorite podcasts about Korea:
Podcast about arts, special events, policy, and business in Korea.
Podcast that offers a guide to living in Korea.
My personal favorite....a podcast that discusses Korean culture.
4. KBS World
This website offers links to podcasts about Korean news and politics.
Awesome podcast that highlights important events in Korean history.
1. Pop 88
Podcast offering top K-Pop and J-Pop hits and mixes.
LANGUAGE: 1. Survival Phrases
Last, as a teacher in Korea, I try to keep up with news and happenings back in the United States as best as I can. I also turn to podcasts to help me with this. These two podcasts keep me informed and they are absolutely hilarious:
1. The Bugle
My all-time favorite podcast. Hilarious take on international news!
Also, equally funny, but focuses mainly on American news.
So that's my list...let me know what other podcasts I should be listening to!
