Korean Cafe Culture: 3 Cafes by Gangnam Station Worth Visiting

Posted on Thu, Apr 12, 2018 @ 12:00 PM

Cafes, cafes everywhere. Huge chains. Themed paradises. Underground gems. One never needs to look too far to find a place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a cute, delicious array of desserts. It is truly one of the charms of Korean culture. Cafes are places to study, work, catch up with friends, or get to know a new love interest. In the mornings, cafes offer a peaceful environment to work, study or wake up with a strong brew. The atmosphere completely changes once it hits around 5PM, and everyone is meeting friends and lovers after work or school. All cafes become packed. One must first find a seat, reserve it, then order. Employees tone down their establishment’s lights and change their playlist for proper socializing.

Gangnam is my home, specifically around Gangnam Station. The district in general is a popular meeting location for socializing. Thus, it is only appropriate I share what I know. The following is a list of my personal favorites by the landmark Gangnam Station exit 11. Enjoy!

She found it particularly easy to get along with Korean students which is why she decided to pursue a teaching opportunity in Korea. She even attended Yonsei University in Seoul for a semester as a study abroad student and fell in love with the city. She is currently working at ChungDahm Learning’s April Daechi branch located in Gangnam, Seoul.
