So after teaching English in South Korea for over a year, I have come to learn a lot about the country and the culture. One thing that has suprised me during my time here is how developed and technological the country is. The infrastucture and industry found throughout the country is really impressive and everywhere you go seems to be buzzing with economic activity. But it definitely wasn't always like this, in fact, it you used to be the exact opposite.
Following the Korean War, the country was in a state of despair and destruction. The country barely had a economy, as the majority of factories and infrastructure in the country had been destroyed. It was one of the poorest countries in terms of GDP per capita. Something had to be done to turn this around.
