An April Lotte World Aquarium Field Trip

Posted on Thu, Mar 21, 2019 @ 12:00 PM

The last field trip I chaperoned was to the Lotte World Aquarium. It was my first time visiting an aquarium in South Korea. I was just as or more excited than the students. Unlike other field trips that only have attractions for kids, a museum is enjoyable for people of all ages.

As the name suggests, this museum is located at the same location as the Lotte World Adventures amusement park. Thus, it is in Jamsil Songpa, Seoul. The exact address is as follows: 300, Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul, Korea.  Their operation hours are great, because it is open everyday of the week from 10AM to 10PM. The entrance fees are 31,000 won for adults and 27,000 won for children.

A Man's Guide to Buying Clothes in Korea

Posted on Fri, Aug 14, 2015 @ 02:10 PM

I am a bigger sized guy. (I’m 6’3, 250 lbs.), Finding clothes that fit me is difficult in Korea and online resources about where to shop for larger sizes are scarce.  This blog is dedicated to you  - the expat males who currently live in, or plan to move to Korea! Beware - you may not meet the average male Korean size.

Recently while back in the U.S. for vacation, I was thrilled to find a  wide variety of clothes that fit me comfortably.  I replenished my wardrobe to meet my needs for the rest of the year in Korea. If you don't have the opportunity to visit home and stock up while living in Korea,  here are a few tips on where to buy clothes in Korea that will fit and what you should pack prior to departure.

Celebrating Christmas and the Holidays as a Teacher in Korea

Posted on Tue, Dec 09, 2014 @ 11:55 AM

Spending Christmas and the holidays in a different country can be difficult for some of us. Growing up, I’m used to having a giant Christmas tree hung with ornaments, presents surrounding the tree, and having a great meal with friends and family. But, this is no reason to feel down during the holiday season. Here are some great places that you can visit and feel the holiday spirit during this winter season in and around Seoul.

Lotte World Mall and Tower: The New Big Attraction in Seoul

Posted on Wed, Oct 22, 2014 @ 09:05 AM

One of the most highly anticipated events just occurred this past month and that was the grand opening of the Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, Seoul. But before going on about the mall, it is important to note that this is under the Lotte World Tower. Lotte World Tower will be the tallest skyscraper on the Korean peninsula once fully completed. It will tower over Southern Seoul because of its whopping 123 floors (for a total of 556 meters). It should be entirely built by the end of 2016 and it will be ranked the eleventh tallest building in the world. The building itself will be used as a mall, offices, residences, a luxury hotel, and finally topped off with a 3-story observation deck. Hopefully, I will be here long enough to see its completion.
